An epic journey, Race Across Scotland 350k/200+ miles

From PortPatrick to Cockburnspath, from West to East, from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, the Race Across Scotland with an official length of 212 miles / 341.3 km. Add to that a few detours for checkpoints and bull meadows and you come well above 350k. A year before the start, we had our party complete. Maarten Schön, François Flisijn, Martino Corneillie and me. Other Dutchmen and Belgians who had appeared at the start, Benny Keuppens, Kurt Peeters, Erwin Deckers, Ken Rottiers, Jozef de Cock and Christophe Wislet. Zugspitze Ultratrail – 100 KM – 5.420 D+

Het Zugspitze avontuur zit er weer op! Zoals in een eerder verslag geschreven door Marek Vis hadden we ons na de Olne-Spa-Olne trail (70km) op 24 november 2013 ingeschreven voor de 100 km trail rondom het Zugspitze massief op de grens tussen Duitsland en Oostenrijk. We wilden een 100 km race lopen maar wisten nog niet welke… totdat Marek ineens zijn inschrijfbevestiging doorstuurde! Dezelfde dag had ik me dus ook maar ingeschreven en Mauk die ook niet achter kon blijven schreef zich in voor de 80km. Met z’n drieën wisten we toen nog niet precies hoe we ervoor moesten trainen……………
